Individual Action

Every one in UAE should help the world about global warming, which is one of the biggest problems facing the world today. I'm going to write some steps on how people individuals can help the world about this problem.
We have to reduce the energy in our homes and offices. For examples, turn off your computer, printers and other electronic devices when not in use. Also we have recycle household waste such as papers, cans plastic and other materials.
In our homes, we have to turn off the water heater when going on vacation. Also we have to replace all lights that consume more energy and put fluorescent lights. These lights use less energy and we will prevent the emissions of carbon dioxide. We can use bicycles more often because they don't burn a single fossil fuel carbon atom.

U.A.E and global warming

I was interested in how global warming releates to my country so I did some research. In the first article I found, at http://www.sustdev.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1316&Itemid, I read that Sh. Khalifa Bin Zayed has announced the creation of a new Ministry for Environment and Water. Also the country sighed the Kyoto Protocol in 2005 to cut carbon emissions.

Some steps have been taken; such as we have adopted solar technologies in parking meters. Also used power in a water heating system in some hotels. Now the country is using gas for power generation and other sectors because it's cleaner. The conversion of some cars to use natural gas as a fuel to replace petrol will run soon in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. These types of cars are more economical and more environmental friendly, because they don't give off carbon emissions. In summary, the government has done a lot of steps to cut carbon emissions. Meanwhile, ADNOC has plans to set up natural gas filling stations in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

In the second article I found, at http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm1/nationworld/2003624119_energy18.htm1, I read that the government has announced a major project: Al Masdar Initiative, which aims to creat renewable energy and resource industries in the Abu Dhabi.

The government wants to diversify its economy and to focus on solar technology as the best renewable energy. Al Masdar has signed up between oil companies and U.A.E ministries to develop renewable energy technologies.

It seems that Abu Dhabi wants to become a center for the development of clean energy technology. Abu Dhabi has announced plans to build 500-megawatt solar power plant in the area. It also wants to show the world that the country has a good strategy to cut carbon dioxide emissions and keep the envoirment clean.

Effects of global warming

There are many effects of global warming. One main effect is that the average temperatures on the earth increase. When the climate changes, we can see effect on the earth.
For examples, ice will melt and snows will disappear. Another major problem is raising sea level. This could result in the flooding of low lying coastal areas and some cities might disappear completely. A change in weather patterns is another effect of this problem. This could cause problems of flooding and drought. Also, it effects on animals, fish populations could be affected and some insects which spread disease might become more common. Yet another effect is on human health. Some poor countries do not have funds to fend against changes in climate. These countries will have diseases such as malaria and more deaths.
To conclude, these are the main effects of global warming. Now, I'm going to write about one specific effect of this problem.

When the average temperatures increase, we can see effects on the earth. One of the biggest problems of climate change is raising sea levels. Melting of ice caps and glaciers would raise sea levels and could cause flooding to many low lying coastal areas and cities. Due to that, some countries might disapper completely and about 100 million people will not find land to live in 50 years. Also, 40% of people in the world will face water shortages because they are dinking water from glaciers. Warmer sea will fuel more intense hurricanes, make them stronger and more dangerous. Rising sea level would push insurance companies' increases up the costs, because the risk of damage would be more higher and dangerous

Causes of global warming

There are many causes for global warming. These causes could be man made or natural. In this essay, I will look at some of the main causes for this problem.

One of the main factors for global warming is carbon dioxide from power plants. Fossil fuels are gas, oil and coal. When fuels are burned, they give off CO2 and causes pollution. Another cause is pollution emitted from cars and trucks. More people mean more cars and more cars means more pollution. Nitrous oxide is another main factor for global warming. It's naturally produced by oceans and rainforests. Nitrous oxide is broken down in the atmosphere by chemical reactions that involve sunlight. Pollution from airplane is another issue for this problem. Yet another cause is deforestation. Burning and cutting trees is responsible for 25% of all carbon emissions entering the atmosphere. Methane is another main factor for global warming. Methane is more than 20 times as effective as CO2 at trapping heat in the atmosphere. Pollution from building also causes global warming.

To conclude, these are the main causes for global warming. Pollution from plant is one of the largest contributors to global warming.

Now, I'm going to talk about how carbon dioxide from power plant causes global warming.

The result of emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from power plants is one of the largest contributors to global warming. In this essay, I will give a brief description how carbon dioxide from power plants causes global warming.

Carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere by burning of solid waste such as wood products and fossil fuels (oil, gas and coal). We run our plants by using energy from fossil fuels. However, burning these fuels is causing climate change and heating the earth to dangerous level. Scientists agree that our plants burn billions of tons of fossil fuels every year and build up large amount of CO2 into the atmosphere. This build up of CO2 threatens our environment and health.

In summary, as you can see, carbon dioxide from power plants causes global warming. So we have to look for other energy to replace fossil fuels in plants.

Introduction to my project

This blog is about global warming. I'm going to help the world about this threat and look for some solutions. I have been asked to do this project, because it's part from course objectives.

Global Warming

Global warning is an increase in the earth's average temperature of the lower atmosphere. Many scientists believe that our production of carbon dioxide and other greenhouses gases is heating the atmosphere and this could be dangerous for human life.

The greenhouse gases let the heat from sunlight into the atmosphere and don't allow the heat to go back into space. The UN Intergovernmental Panel on climate change estimated that global average temperature would increase from 1.4 to 5.8C by 2100. This increase in the temperature will causes a lot of problems such as, snows will disappear, ice will melt and cause changes in weather events.

To conclude, global warming is one of the biggest problems facing the world today. If we make small changes now in the way we live, we can avoid huge change in the future. Scientists, government, individuals must work together to overcome this threat.

Welcome,,,,,,

Hello every one,

My name is Mohamed Al Saadi. I was born in Al Ain in the east of the UAE. I am twenty eight years old and married with three children. I speak Arabic and English. I live in Al-Shamkah, which is about 50 kilometers from the center of the city on the Sweihan road.

I am an admin officer in Abu Dhabi Gas Industrials Company in the real estate department. I have joined HCT to continue studying and get a higher certificate. Also, I would like to improve my skills and knowledge which will help me to change my position and increase the production of my company. our company is one from the largest gas companies in the world so it always looks for highly qualified employees and sends them on different courses.

I like reading, learning English and playing football.

In summary, as you can see my daily routine is busy, so I enjoy the weekend with my family.
